Mr. Winky is a 5-piece band of seasoned, talented musicians. Every band member takes pride in pleasing every crowd, every night. Mr. Winky plays "covers" of KQRS type classic rock & roll, soul hits from the motown era, some R&B and even a little country. This makes Mr. Winky a perfect fit for your entertainment needs for any type of venue. Whether it's at a bar or night club, a private party or wedding, or even a corporate event. Mr. Winky Features: Dave (DJ): Lead guitar, lead vocals and back-up vocals. DJ is one of the area's finest lead guitarests and has been playing in local bands since he was in high school. Dave's weapons of choice are mostly a few Fender Stratocasters, but every once in a while he'll pull out his sweet little Telecaster. Dave's guitar influences are: Jeff Beck, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Robin Trower, Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, and last but not least, Eric Clapton. Dave took on the guitar duties for Mr. Winky back in 1989. Mark B. (Sparky): Keyboards, saxophone, flute, harmonica, lead vocals and back-up vocals. Mark has been a constant in the Minneapolis music scene since the early 70's. Mark has also done some overseas touring with a show band. Mark has been a member of Mr. Winky since 2001. Mark M. (The Dude): Bass guitar, lead vocals, back-up vocals, sound and lights. Mark's thumping bass lines always keep the dance floor jumping. Mark has done it all: from playing and recording with several local bands as well as touring with acts across the U.S. and Canada. Mark has been a member of the Mr. Winky family since 2004. Dean D. (Deano): Drums/Percussion. The newest member of the Mr. Winky lineup. Although he is new to the band, you would never know it by the way he "rocks the house." Deano stays busy performing with other local artists around the Twin Cities. Deano also has worked with several local artists on numerous recording projects. Deano is quite possibly the best drummer in the state, he's just not very good in the city. Bob A. (Mr. Winky): Lead vocals, back-up vocals and percussion. Bob is the founding member, the lead voice, the heart and soul of the band. When you witness how many different voices he posesses, it will be easy to tell that Bob has been influenced by many different singers. If we were to compile a complete list of his vocal influences, that list would fall off the bottom of this page. |
